While you were away . . .

- The sound of you coming across the balcony at night. Sometimes I still hear your
door closing and the balcony creeking and it makes me remember hundreds of sneaky trips to
check up on me, fight, and everything else.
- Putting your earrings on night stand before going to sleep.
- Every night as we went to bed, opening the doors to our apartments, then stepping inside
of yours to kiss good night. Every single night! Boy, I
looked forward to that
I clearly remember my first exposure to your vast children's book collection: There we
were out on the balcony in the freezing cold, curled up under a blanket reading Dr. Seuss.
Shortly after, we threw the couch over the balcony. I thought that was a
little strange, but I didn't know the half of it.
